This composition reveals the subject comparing a specific location on the globe to the landscape in the painting.  Similar to the portrait of Isabella by Leonardo, La Joconde, which uses an exact location on the globe to create the landscape in his painting. 

The notion of the Earth being round, rather than flat, and in the shape of a globe was a progressive idea in 1530.
